Wednesday was another pretty busy day, but busy in the way that, now that I’m writing about it, I can’t think of a whole lot of notable tales or highlights to share. We’ll just call it normal life busy, which I’m sure most out there can relate to.

Like recently I was talking to my parents, and we all agreed the past few weeks had been super hectic, but none of us could really conjure anything of note to share about it. I guess busy and interesting aren’t always concurrent concepts.

Anyway, near the end of the work day, the kids wanted to watch the Muppet Movie. The original one, which I am definitely always in support of. They asked me if I could hang out downstairs and finish my work while they watched it, and, well, twist my arm.

“Rainbow Connection” is one of my favorite songs, period. And the kids and I all sang along with Kermit. Amelia took video.

It’s a classic, and holds up well. We were singing along again with the end credits song, and I absolutely love the sentiment the movie ends with:

Life is a movie, write your own ending, keep believing, keep pretending, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. Here’s to the lovers, the dreamers and you.

YES.

Other than that, it was a standard night of dinner, play and cleanup, followed by a little game of fetch with the dogs. Octopus battle!

One of the great things about being in your late forties with two little kids and two young dogs is that you can expect that, at a minimum, two of the four of them will be insanely hyper at the precise moment of the evening when you completely lose momentum. Sure forcees one to dig deep and power through. If I could approach any challenge in life with the voracity that those two dogs go after that octopus…now that would be something.
