We woke up on Friday morning, a tad on the groggy side. Not going to lie, after a long a car trip, and seeing family we hadn’t seen in a while, it’s possible that conversation went a little later than we are accustomed to, and a goodly amount of wine was consumed.

The kids were still up bright and early, full of energy and ready to go. I was a little fuzzy.

But some coffee and fresh air sharpened me up and we had a nice lazy day for the most part. The kids played in the backyard, played games, watched movies and soaked up the change of scenery.

Late in the afternoon, we got ready to go to my niece Ashley’s graduation party. We were of course very excited to see her and congratulate her, but we were also admittedly a little nervous about going to our first gathering of any kind in ages. We masked up and headed in.

Fortunately, it was a beautiful day with a really nice breeze. The party venue was great, the setup was really nice and the event area had a lot of outdoor space, and we were able to keep good, safe distance.

We wore masks when we were in more congregated areas and my family and I were able to stake out a really nice spot in a covered area in the back corner.

The kids were loving their time with Grandma and Grandpa, Ashley and Aunt Anne.

We hung out for a little while, then paid our respects to the guest of honor as we headed out.

Ashley is set to attend college at the University of Wisconsin in Madison this fall, and we are all super proud and excited for her. We were glad we got to be there to support her.

After the party, we went back to Rosemary and Eli’s, had some local carry out for dinner, and then settled in to watch The Muppet Movie.

Amelia and I feel asleep on the couch. It was a pretty early night for all of us. Movin’ right along.
